2014 will be remembered as the year Tim Shafer officially blew through the goodwill he'd accrued over his career, with vitriolic twitter rants to anyone that caught his eye, to being proud of wasting exorbiant amounts of money on Broken Age, to repeatedly asking for more money for a game that still doesn't do as much for the point-and-click adventure as Telltale.
Double Fine
a Broken Age with broken promises
Look, we gotta be fair, EA has improved quite a bit this year. "On the house" deals with Origin along with a better refund system than Steam's, you might be wondering why the fuck they would be placed in crimes against gaming. Sadly, EA is still shit and continues to lie to its audience regardless of what change they do. They just suck a little less every year, maybe one day they won't even be on here, who knows. I don't predict this bullshit.
EA
Promising change and not doing a single thing about it
You'll find creative control remarkably difficult when you're trying to get your game into the shelves of a multibillion dollar retailer.
Retailer Censorship
Target and K-Mart Australia, Steam Greenlight
If Ubisoft is good at one thing, it would be at deceiving its audience through glorified E3 trailers and gameplay videos. Watch_Dogs and Assassin's Creed: Uninity, hell even Far Cry 3 and 4 were meant to look glamerous for their release, only to gamers surprise when they found out how diabolical they actually were.
Ubisoft
"Our trailers were meant for reference only"
Valve used to be a well-respected company; after but sale after sale, implementing a one-week trading freeze on new purchases made through the Steam market, arbitrary cutting of content for TF2 and Dota 2, and the ridiculous “gems” system all make us think that these days Valve wants to make a profit from the least effort, focusing on the whales instead of their core audience.
Valve Software
EA-in-training
There is a reason the series has been single player up to this point.
Zenimax Media
Pushing Elder Scrolls Online down everyone's throats
