3.3 million American dollary-doos later, Broken Age releases, literally half finished, crammed to the brim with social justice ideology that would make even Tumblr cringe. It's a pretty sad day when someone like Tim Schafer releases a game where the only remotely likable character is a talking robotic spoon.

WIth a 1.5 Million dollar budget, and production starting around 2012, all they have to offer is one chapter out of five.

It's the poster child of the Let's Playing gaming generation. By being a game built around clunky mechanics and filled to the brim with "tongue in cheek" references. Goat Simulator is unsufferable the same way that annoying kid you knew that was always spouting the joke of the week on TV was: completely unoriginal and fake.

Coffee Stain Studios
Pandering to the undying nostalgia of a public that will never outgrow their childhood, Shovel knight just repeats all the characteristics old platformers did like squares to tick in a list of "homages".

Binding of Isaac Rebirth fits for a 2014 game we suppose. Isaac, a small naked child, hides from his mother in his basement after she has been told by god to murder her son. In his journey, he comes across the seven deadly sins, the personifications of hedonistic behavour, and a final boss literally called "Mega Satan."

Despite being the better ""ghost detective"" game released this year, Ethan Carter is still one more exampleof games that bank more in pretty graphics and minimalistic gameplay to show a deep story. All style, no content.

"While 11 bit studios manages to deliver a pretty decent ""war survival"" simulator, they completely over the top with their depiction of the survivors, by making them depressed by just nor sleeping on a bed during war time or by making 95% of the survivors not in your group straight up killer with much better weapons."
This War Of Mine

Supergiant games seems to have found their niche by making games about world ending in non-descriptive ways. Making the player have to guess about the actual nature of the transistor and the city itself gets a bit frustrating, undermining a game that can easily hold itself by its own merits.
